The greatest cookies in the wo-o-orld

IMG_9078

Right here we have the beginnings of the best cookies ever. EVER! 1 1/2 cups of mini chocolate chips to be exact. Now these cookies also contain things like 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 1/4 cups of softened butter, 1 cup of icing sugar and 2 tsp of vanilla, but they aren’t as pretty to photograph and I may have forgot. Another important ingredient to the recipe is a cookie “helper”, but if you don’t have one laying around I’m sure you will make do…

Step one: We can have lots of fun.

Step two: There’s so much we can…oh, wait. Cookies. Ahem.

So, first you will mix together the flour and salt. In a separate bowl you will cream the butter and then beat in the sugar and vanilla. Next up you add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, a part at a time, and blend until it is all smoothly combined. Now it’s time to add the chips.

And now we mix in the chips. This is where you, like I, might be tempted to eat the cookie dough and that dough is delicious, but resist. Resist, I tell you! That dough is nothing in comparison to the cookies it will soon make.

Oh, alright. Go ahead and have a little taste…

Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls. This may seem small, but really only make them an inch. Seriously. If you’re like me then this will be hard. Thoughts like, “But, that is so small!” will run through your head and then in a recipe that is supposed to yield six dozen (ie. this one) you only end up with three or four. I would like to add here that with this batch I made seven and a half dozen. Oh yeah! The more cookies, the better. And then when you’ve eaten fourteen you’ll remember they’re only small so that’s ok. Isn’t it?

Moving on. Now you take a glass and flour the bottom and flatten the cookies so they’re about two inches in diameter. This may sound obvious, to…well, all of you, but make sure the bottom of the glass is flat. Last year I didn’t pay attention and, while the cookies were still good, they weren’t up to their full potential.

Next you will bake the cookies at 325F (160C) for 10 to 11 minutes.

When they’re out go ahead and try one, but they are best once cooled.

Ok! What are you waiting for? Go make these cookies. Really, they are the greatest things you’ll ever eat! Well, cookie wise anyway.
